![]() PCI-E 2.1 and up has a higher power profile and is faster exponentially from 1.0 and 2.0 bus. PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 cards may be too slow to work at all aka OLD Geforce 8800 for example. ![]() PCI-E 2.1 or 3.0 cards will not have issues. I just learned, however, that the small PCIe x1 slots the sound card is made for is not very different from the large PCIe slots (x4/x8/16), in principle. If you have two slots, adding a USB card will only be possible if you're using a single-slot GPU.I have this motherboard with an unfortunate arrangement of PCIe slots and trying to fit both the GPU and the sound card onto it puts me in a bind. In addition to USB cards, you also use PCIe slots for graphics cards and sound cards. PCIe is short for PCI-Express, which is the standard expansion slot in modern PCs.
